Greetings NorCal!
Welcome to 2011!
Last year, NorCal FJs grew in many ways. The online community itself attracted over 200+ new members and NorCal hosted the 2nd Annual AllCal Event at Hollister Hills SVRA. Many of you played a big part in these accomplishments and we look forward to your participation into 2011.
If you happened to miss the goings-on here at NorCal FJs because you were out enjoying the outdoors, here is a brief recap:
- The NorCal FJ Event Calendar was introduced to provide a better means of organizing trail runs, socials and events as well as integrate them into other calendar applications.
- Groups were introduced to promote various interests and activities. Best of all, all groups have built into their missions ways to contribute and benefit NorCal FJs. For example, the Comms Group has been commissioned to work on the communications strategy for major events along with educating those interested in HAM, CB and FRS/GMRS, whereas the Step Cal FJs group will be organizing trail runs and socials in the Central California region.
- NorCal FJs also became more social in the online sense. It integrated with Facebook and Twitter and became Seesmic Desktop-enabled. The NorCal FJ NewsShare app was introduced to keep everyone apprised of news related to our sport as well as keep us informed of important goings-on with land management and trail closure issues.
- NorCal FJs also hosted many Group Buys in 2010. Among them were:
- BozTec All-Stainless CB Antenna Mount
- BozTec Rear Diff Skid Plate
- sPOD Power Distribution Kit
- Trasharoo Spare Tire Trash Bag
- Cobb Grill
- NorCal FJs welcomed BozTec and Red Eye Fabrication as the first two premier vendors in the vendor program, which is currently in beta.
- New forum topics were introduced as well as many other features.
So, what does 2011 have in store? Quite a bit. Among the planned improvements for both the online and offline community, a new trail adoption program and a fully dedicated mobile app are in the works. Of course, there will be more trails to be explored, groups to be formed and new events/socials to be enjoyed.
We look forward to enjoying 2011 with you. Remember, tread lightly and maintain the highest standard of online decorum.
NorCal FJs
