The Comms Group is geared towards off-road and group communications. The group’s mission is to increase overall communications knowledge, provide member collaboration opportunities and standardize NorCal FJ communication channels and operations.

Welcome to the NorCal FJs Comms Group
One of the biggest challenges in off-road logistics is communications. It’s the “who has what type of radio.” While not everyone is a HAM yet, this group will encourage further adoption of HAM radio as a primary source of communications for the NorCal FJs. It’s easy to get a license and and it opens up a world of possibilities for communications. At the same time we know some folks just don’t want to go the HAM route, so we are not going to be HAM elitist – just understand that there is only a limited amount you can do with CB or FRS.

1) Education of good radio practices
2) Focus on Amateur Radio Licensing
3) Equipment reviews by users
4) Installation guides
5) Field Exercises and Testing
6) Frequency Coordination for Trail Runs and events
7) Having fun with another potentially expensive hobby
Note: The administrator and moderators of this group reserve the right to edit and/or delete any posts that condones illegal radio practices. We will do our best to educate and not censor since open discussion is important to the understanding of radio communications.
