I am thinking about purchasing a CB. Where is the best place to Mount it in the FJ?

somewhere within arms reach is my preference. I mounted mine on the glove compartment.

If you pick up a small one (like a Cobra 19 DX), you can easily mount it to the rear of the center console. Mine, a Cobra 75 wx st, is mounted inside my center console with the mic jack in the console storage area. If you get a 1 DIN model, it can be mounted below a 1 DIN head unit in the dash. Some folks mount CBs above the rear view mirror. See the blue room for lots of options, and lots of install instructions.

I also highly recommend getting your amateur radio license and some sort of 2m unit. Anyone can pass the "Technical" level test with just a few hours of study (using free online resources, or a "ham cram" session hosted by a local ham club).
