FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hello all!!! I recently purchased a CO2 tank in the group buy and I'm wondering how others have installed theirs... I love the MPACK Rack, but another $180 is a little much right now and I'd like to get it installed this weekend as I head up to the Sierras. Does anyone have pictures & or suggestions for mounting without forking out a ton of $$$$$?????? Any commentary would be appreciated.

Sorry I slapped mine on the mpac rack so I can't help ya there. Great buy though!

You may be able to make your own bracket/plate that mounts up the same way the mpac would though without too much work.
I have made my own rack, similar to the mpac, for the back area. Talk to BKReese, he has seen it. I can not help this weekend, but if you wanted to throw in a few bucks for materials, I can help you build one.
I to have the MPAC.. I love it..

I have see people take off the hooks and install a piece of metal across the two. Like 1"-2" wide and long enough to span between the two hooks. like 7" or 8". Then you can install your mount to that. Maybe even use a piece of angle iron..

I have no pics of this but there may be something on the blue room...
Ask Tater, I think he has his mounted in some fashion
Tater has his in a bag laying in the back seat..
Ya know Boz and I could fab something up pretty quick PM me if that is something you are thinking about
I used a piece of flat bar and mounted the Powertank mount to it.

I need to modify mine to put in longer standoffs, if I have the tank with the regulator facing in the handle rubs the plastic on the edge of the headliner.

Yep thats where I saw it..
Thanks everyone! I'm going to give it a try tomorrow and see what we can do. If I F it up I'll be posting again soon to beg for help :-) If not, I'll post some pics...
It's not hard to build what I did. The hardest part was finding metric hardware, I found all the material I needed at OSH, including the flat bar.
OK. I got it done! We found all of the parts and opg 4759 was right, the metric part was the hardest. I'll post pictures in a day or two when I get a minute free. I just used 1/8" steel strapping material and cut it to fit. I did cut and grind the edges so it was rounded to match the round edges already in the plastic. Did the whole Signal Hill trail and it didn't budge a bit! Loved how fast the CO2 was to air back up! all 4 tires in less time than my compressor took to fill 1...
