Well. Changed out my oem NGK plugs for the Densos a couple days ago. I have to say, Im very impressed. The difference in power and gas mileage are both very noticeable. Two tanks of gas on the new plugs so far, and my average has improved from 16.1 to 19.3 so far. Working on the third tank now and its looking just as nice on the guage. The added power isnt remarkable, but is noticeable. I have a pretty heavy foot, so it has gotten a bit of testing. Also, after a complication with my order on the plugs from sparkplugauto.com, ive built a repertoire with the owner of the company, and he offered that if I need anything at all from him, contact him directly and he will "hook me up". The website price is 7.79 per plug I believe, which is already a great deal. So if anyone wants to try the Densos out, let me know and we will take advantage of his offer.

Well a year has passed.  Boy it is scary how time flies.  Did you get the plugs and do you still have them.  I will take them if you did.  Sorry for being slack on this matter and if I put you out...

Just touching base.  Still awaiting.  I am out of town for ten days backpacking and so will be out of touch.  will check back asap. Thanks.
I just replaced my stock sparks with the denso iridiums. I experienced a noticeable change in pick up and a little as far as gas mileage goes. I must qualify that statement by saying that my original sparks had 50,000 miles on them. I tried the NGK iridiums first and I didn't notice much of a change. I drove 3,000 on the NGK's... from California to Virginia. I switched them out for the denso's in VA and then drove to Florida. I got 20 more miles per tank on average. Other factors may play a part in this, but the noticeable pick up was worth the money. I got the denso's at autozone in a hick town in VA for $6.99. The NGK's were $10.49 at the same store. Go figure. Oh, my densos had a more of pointed spark tip and they came gapped at .38. I gapped them carefully to .44. Hope this helps.

I think I need an overland journal style (or even Myth Buster Style) review to believe MPG are significantly improved by a change in spark plugs....if the manufacturer of the plugs could guarantee that significant of a MPG gain I think it quickly become a federal mandate to use Denso spark plugs :-).

I'm not disputing that they are great plugs, i plan on getting some myself in the future, truth of the matter is very few things are going to get you a 3 mpg gain. In fact I have even seen some test that show a increase in gas usage after changing to performance plugs.

I have been on the hunt for some Denso "Long Life" Irridiums.   On my overland experience,  With 55,000 miles on my E-3 spark plugs (14.9 mpg average) that were fried.  I researched and decided to go with Denso.  No one carries that plug in California and I was planning on a 6,000 mile road trip.  In a pinch,  I put in "NGK Irridium IV's".

WOW!  My highway milage dropped to 13.6mpg and the powerband lost low rev power.   I was really looking forward to getting those DENSO plugs when I was in Oklahoma.  They only had 2 in the state.  No dice.

-mini overland report-

E-3 plugs.   new-  drove to Alaska / 55,000 miles later- sputtering at idle / 15.1mpg average

NGK Irridium IV,  new- low-end power loss and super noticable loss in milage over 6,000 overland trip. 13.6mpg average.

I actaully have another window open for online purchacing of the Denso "Long Life" Irridium spark plugs (because the NGK's have got to go)  I will re-visit this thread after I get these and have some solid miles on them.
