FJ Cruisers of Northern California
Has there been any discussion on a time frame for this yet? The last I heard was that it was going to be at Shaver Lake.
I am taking it upon myself to rustle up some information and build intrest in an epic "All Cal" get-to-gether.

thanks for bringing this up, Cowboy. there's been a lot going on behind the scenes, mostly on the so-so side. long story short, there may not be an "official" AllCal this year...but that's not to say it will never happen again. the intent of AllCal (at least in most of our thoughts and minds) was to celebrate the regions (three locations per region - Nor/Cent/So...we had planned Hollister and two other locations alternating every 3rd year), support local businesses/individuals (with t-shirt designs -- we had 5AND5TORM design ours, t-shirt production --we had ours produced by Ashbury Images (a local company that works with at-risk youth), and any other services), benefit local/national charities (we chose Stephen Wampler Foundation and BlueRibbon Coalition in 2010), and get everyone together for a grand ole' time.
unfortunately, things happened, communications broke down, two websites were created and AllCal began to regress back into its regionalized behavior after only one year. that combined with lack of support in other regions and you've got too much to handle for the other two regional volunteers to handle.
that's not the only thing. Shaver Lake area was the original plan, but the deadline to officially organize a large event in the area has come and gone. as a result, we may shift back to NorCal for an unofficial event until things with "AllCal" get sorted out.
if that makes sense to all of you...cool. if it does not, feel free to pose questions...i'm happy to answer whatever i can.
Are (lengthy to obtain) permits required @ Pismo?
yes, if you plan to host an event. Pismo Jim did an outstanding job hosting SnT. there are a lot of things that go into organizing an event. please PM me if you are serious about hosting an event of some kind. thanks.
Put this thread on marination please, I need to do some research...
"If you Build it, they will come"
Everyone in Socal is itching for an All-Cal event and if there is even a hint of a possible "ALL- CAL" meet, we will show up droves.
I am an Assistant Principal at a HS and get drained by the routine of the job. The thing that helps me make it is the time with my FJ and meeting other FJ owners. I think most of us feel the same way and crave being part of this California FJ community. My .02 is that a formal or informal All-Cal would equally be successful because we would make it fun and laid-back. I hope we can move forward and get something going.
Please! I need my Step and NorthCal fix!
X2! Cowboy, please let me know if you need my help on this. Now that I'm settled (and happy) in San Jose, I'd like to get reacquainted with all y'all. :)
Mo
I'm being relieved of some responsibilities in June.
I would not mind redirecting some of that time into this event.
If there's a way I can help get some stuff done contact me and maybe I can take on some tasks to lighten the load.
That and I still got a whole bottle of Patron left over from Pismo.
"Hidy ho happy campers!"
: )
hi all, for clarification, there are two types of "AllCal" events. one is an impromptu/semi-planned trail run with members from all over CA and the other is the official event.
the former is fine for anyone to organize at anytime, but please keep in mind not to make the assumption that you can get over 30+ trucks at any given site without having to address various issues: group event fees, insurance, etc.
been there, done that...had to fork over dough that we shouldn't have never been responsible for and never got reimbursed.
that being said, anything organized online and attracting a "certain" number of vehicles may be liable for certain fees and insurance. AllCal "the event" was supposed to address this issue by saving some of the proceeds from previous year's events to pay for reservation fees, insurance, and certified drivers to conduct clinics all at a minimal (no more than $60) cost to the attendee.
i know some of you are thinking, "who cares, let's just set things up and congregate anyway." i would highly discourage that, as at this point, the SVRA/OHV/Forestry Depts are our best friends for making large events like AllCal 2010 happen. feigning ignorance is only going to tarnish our reputation with a majority of those whose livelihoods (and lawyer fees) rely on dedicated, responsible wheelers like, NorCal FJs.
thanks, and feel free to plan accordingly for the AllCal gathering...not the event, and be mindful of what it takes to organize such outings so that participants aren't hit unexpectedly with fees or just plain get kicked out. thanks!
good post Tater, do you still plan on doing HSR?
