it is the time of year to enjoy the splendor of the High Sierra.
now in its 5th year, the High Sierra Run is the perfect vacation for those who enjoy the scenery, recreational activities and relaxation that the Eastern Sierra has to offer.
as always, this run only has a couple pre-scheduled runs and follows a "come and go as you please" format. each year, some folks go on exploration runs, while others go fishing, hit the natural hot springs, or hiking. this year, we've extended the run to a full week and you can plan your arrival and departure as you wish.

I won't be camping (sold most all the camping equip a few years back, pre-FJ, at a Garage sale...darn it), so I got a hotel in Mammoth. I'm planning on heading over on Wednesday and will stay at least until Saturday, and maybe Sunday, depending on what might be happening here in the park (its been a wacky week with the fire and such).
Biggest decision before I go is, do I run with stock tires and no lift, or upgrade the tires before I head over. (A lift is pretty much out of the question at this time.)
Looking forward to meeting new faces. I'll be watching the RSVP list for a total number coming as I'm planning on bringing a Yosemite goodie for everyone. I'm on a budget, so the less people, the nicer the item! On the other hand, it would be nice to see a large turnout too! ;-)

I was thinking of holding off til I get to see the other rigs up close. Plus, in a couple months, I'll pull off the summer tires and put on the studded snow tires. I have the money for tires now...just not sure if I will have the discipline to stash it away til next spring!
We will be in Yosemite Sat the 17th and heading to the Eastern side on the 18th, will you be in the Valley Sunday or at home? We can get a cup Sunday if you are or we will see you Wed in Mammoth.
The Eastern trails are not that bad, the trail up to Laurel is rocky but if you take it slow stock is no problem.
This looks fun.
Can't wait to hang around the campfire.
I might even bring some good beers this time.
; )
Sorry but I am not going to make this trip. With the move south a couple days before hand just wont be able to get it together, Plus a little 3000 mile road trip in early October I need to save my seat. Have fun everyone and see you a trail soon.
