How about a BBQ?

Okay, so I've been talking to my family, and inquiring about inviting you, my fellow Step Cal FJers, up to our house for a BBQ. We're about a half hour below the entrance to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon Nat'l Park, and there are quite a few trails up in the mountains too. Although I'll admit I don't know the trails well...or at all...lol. Anyway, I figured I'd throw it out here to you guys, and see what the consensus is on whether or not this sounds interesting to anyone. From what my family says, we'd be looking at late June, early July, or thereabout. Thoughts, comments, ideas?

Note: If this does strike the collective fancy, I'll add more information about it.

Trails, mountains & BBQ are a very good mix, add beer and the day will be complete. All we need is to settle on a date that we can all get together.

This sounds like a great idea! July is a little busy with runs, so may have to plan for June. Any date is good for us, we are only about 40 minutes from you! This will be a great way to expose our fellow FJ brothers and sisters to the local trails and maybe start an annual run!

There can definitely be beer; we're an alcohol friendly house lol We'll provide some sodas and some light beer (either Miller Lite or Bud Light), and if you'll want anything different you're welcome to bring it. And for anyone coming from further away we have plenty of property if you'd like to camp out for the night, or there's a little hotel in the town a little ways away.

It would be pretty awesome to start an annual run, if all goes well. :)

What about the last weekend in June?

Mindy, maybe this will help with the planning......

June 25th is the Pozo concert, I can't make it that weekend. The 4th of July would be out for most. The 2nd, 3rd or 4th weekend in July will work for me. I will be in Yosemite for the 5th weekend. Did you want to do a Saturday? Or Sat & Sunday event?

If the rest of the motley pirate crew can post up some dates that would work for them maybe we can plan something and get an idea if enough of us can get together?

July 9th, 16th or 23rd? Camping place for Sat night? Trails on Sat or Sun or both? The Rubithon and Summit are both in there but I am not going to make them this year.

Dale? Byron? Bryan? Wes? Steves? I can bring Teri on the 23rd, Dale can you get Dawn out of the house to do some trails and drink a beer or two?

I think the 23rd of July will work (I'll double check in the morning). A sat & sun thing would be cool if that fits with everyone. We have plenty of property for anyone who wants to to camp here, or for anyone who doesn't want to camp there's the Squaw Valley Motel maybe 5 minutes or so from our house. I'm hoping to get a chance to poke around on the trails in the area since so far I've only ran one, but it would be fun to do some trails both days if its feasible. :)

i might be able to do the 23rd. still a very slight possibility that i may attend Summit, but i'm pretty sure i'll be around. if i do, i'd be game to camp somewhere nearby.

My mom has been bugging me to let you guys know that anyone is welcome to come up late-ish on Friday if you don't want to have to get here early Saturday
