Check with MoabFJ, he has done a good job painting his OEM rims black.

 

I did have rims powdercoated and used Melrose Metal Finishing in Oakland.

BozTec has been bouncing around the powdercoaters in Oakland and the surrounding areas looking for a good one maybe they have found it by now, shoot Bozly a PM or give him a call

You can also check with Tater since he powdercoated his wheels white.

i got mine done in the east bay. let me know if the north bay vendors don't pan out for you. also, look into painting them as others have suggested. much cheaper and easier to touch up.

I heard rumours about a good powder coater in Richmond, but the guy couldn't remember his name.

If you are having a batch of black done let me know...I have a few small items and could maybe

help defray some cost for you.

I second the Richmond powder coating people, they did a set for a buddy years ago and they came out awesome. I cant remember the name but they are located right next to the freeway on the North side, not in DEEP Richmond. Plus that's just a skip-n-a-jump from you in Marin. Matte Black is as easy as it gets as far as color goes, if you want to paint them yourself, I know of a company in Rohnert Park that may be able to media blast them for you. Thanks for all the replies today. On way home from work I stopped at a place in Santa Rosa that painted one of my coworkers Dodge oe wheels. They charge $275 per wheel. I believe a little too steep. But the guy had said powdercoating my aluminum wheels will hurt them. I had heard something along those lines about steel wheels, but not aluminum. I dont know a lot about the subject. I will inquire with the people you guys referenced. Thanks again everyone.

I have a set of 5  07 FJ Oem  and TRD wheels that were powdercoated with "Satin" low-sheen black.

I sold the set of 5, 07 OEM black powder coated wheel to Navedtra. I'll send his original wheels to be power coated and them sell too.
BTW, The Black TRD (replica) wheels are still available.

$275 per wheel is ridiculous. I'd take the time to prep and paint them myself before I paid anyone that much to paint some rims.

If you decide to paint, you can have it done over a weekend.

It will run you about $30-40 depending on your taste in beer. The rest is trivial stuff like painters tape, etching primer, paint, and a Sunday newspaper. I have 2 sets of wheels and have painted them both. They get touched up at the beginning and  end of each wheeling season.

Powder coating looks nice, but paint is easy and inexpensive. It also gives you the ability to touch up when ever you want.

Thanks all for the replies. I do think Im gonna go with painting em. Got a couple other things I wanna dwith em anyway. That and I am offroad every day at work, so painting them only seems logical as ill probably b touching up alot. .
