FJ Cruisers of Northern California

New to the forum, but my buddy and myself actually saw this FJ in Novato near Bel Marin a few months ago. We took two pics, and i couldnt find them. My buddy still had one so he sent for me to post up here. Pretty rad ride. Was around same time you posted this, so im sure he was passing thru. Another friend claimed to have seen it in Petaluma a couple weeks later, but we dont believe him."Pics please!!" Haha.
Owner found. Moab was right. He said he had met a couple members of NorcalFJs while he was working on it. A friend of mine from work had a picture of his truck in front of a local business here where I live, so I decided to go in today and inquire.
It ended up being the owner of the business who built and owns the FJ. It was, in fact, a rollover 07 Sun Fusion that he had towed in off Hwy 101 thru town back in 07. After 3 years of custom building this thing from ground up, he ripped it out of the garage for the first time in August of last year.
After an hour or so of him enthusiastically telling me the history and pains to this machine, he asked me if I wanted to take it for a spin. Haha. I dont think he had the last word out of his mouth before I was eagerly awaiting keys. We rode around a few miles on freeway with top up to test noise level and stability. Very quiet considering a custom built soft top. More quiet than any Jeep I had ever owned. We stopped and he put the top down, and he then took over at the wheel for the ride back. The ONE thing I do miss about Jeeps after converting to the FJ, was feeling the sun burn my clean-shaven head as the wind whipped around ear hairs that I am much too young to have accrued so many of. Miss it no more. FJ experience is now complete.
This was one awesome 10 mile ride that brought a lot of stares and second looks. Even a motorcyclist who I thought was gonna sit his rump on the handlebars to steer while craning back at us as he passed. The owner, Dave, was very excited to ride out with me and chat so long on the topic of his FJ. He loves showing his "pride of the fleet" to anyone who appreciates an FJ, present or past. He scoffs at the many who call it a Hummer when they see it.
He looks forward to coming to the next outing that we have (he cant make Hollister this weekend due to prior arrangements).
This Fj is THE sweetest one I have ever seen hands down. I can not wait to see it in person. I hope this guy is aware that his ride is one of the hottest rigs on the globe. If he gets the hummer remark allot he needs a tire cover or stencil on the windshield that reads "If I wanted a Hummer I would of Asked Your WIfe !"
