Gas tank skid install question

So i have the ricochet skids and was trying to get my final skid on this weekend (gastank).  The holes on the skid do not match up (the ones on the skid are too close together by about 3/8 of an inch. back to front not left to right)

 

I spoke with Brad at Ricochet and he said he has seen this before and usually you can "loosen the straps that hold the gas tank and slide them a small amount to make them fit"  This sounds logical, but was curious have any of you loosened these straps?  Thoughts or ideas?
