I have them. Used them once last year on the front just to try that. Worked great.

Yep those are the ones I got. Easy to install and move forward or rear.

I bought a set on my first winter...but then I changed to bigger tires. I dont think I can fit them anymore.

No and No...an FJ and a set of At's or MT's and off you go. If they ask if you have chains..say yes and off you go.

Around central sierras and Yosemite they will actually check your vehicle for chains and will not let you continue up the mountain if you do not have them.

Yep. Carry the chains. Chain controllers are much happier with you if you prepared and follow the law. CHP will ticket you you don't have them in the control area. I have used them to pull a few big SUVs out of trouble. On a Ice House fishing run last year, we chained up all four just to see how much farther we could go. Fun but lots of digging the FJ out of a very big hole.

OK, I'm convinced that I should get some chains. I have to think about the safety of my family.

I just don't get to the snow as often as I would like and want to save the money. In my years of driving I have only had to put chains on once, while going over the hill to Reno in a 2wd.

Any suggestions on where to pick some up locally (Peninsula)?

I don't know guys, I go to Tahoe 30 times a year. I've been driving up there for 22 season now. Always in a 4x4 and have never needed chains. They ask if I have chains, I say yes and off I go. Maybe I'm crazy...
