Day Trips!?!

Does anyone know of runs that can be done in a single day in the Roseville/Sacramento area? I did the AllCal and SnT and had a great time and met lots of good people. I am sure there are others out there in similar situations...work, family, day-to-day grind makes it hard to take 2-3 days to do 4x4ing...but the itch is always present! I'm looking for runs that can be done in a day and family-friendly people to go with...Ideas? Suggestions?

yeah... yeAH! YEAH!!! That's what I talking about! I want to do all of these runs! I want to do them ALL! Thanks for all the responses. These all sound perfect. I definately want to check these out. Anyone have experience with north east/ Auburn/ Grass Valley: Stag Point, Poker Flat, Gold Valley, and/or Deer Lake?

have done deer lake and gold valley. I have been considering pokerflat myself. Might be a good alternative since I think the scouting trip with fj4 tahoe looks like a no go.

Auburn/Grass Valley -- talk to BZ i think he organized a few runs there
Poker Flat: I have heard is a great lil run
Gold Valley: Amazing but a little too much of a drive for a day trip IMHO
Deer Lake? Do you mean Valley? Deer Valley is awesome..and doable in a day trip...so is strawberry for that matter.

There is a actual trail called deer lake ohv. It's in the same general vicinity of gold valley and pokerflat. Deer valley is a more difficult trail and in a different area altogether.

For a day trip out of Roseville, try signal peak (once the snow melts of course). It is in the same area as eagle lakes I believe. There are two ways up, the easy way is basically a fire road, the more difficult way up is moderately difficult. Both are fun and there are great views from the top.
