FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi guys,

I recently purchased Mad Dog diamond plating for my ride & need everyone's opinion on how to proceed.  I'm not sure if I should just install them as-is or if I should get the bush whacker fender flares.  Also, I was thinking about maybe trimming them down a little so they aren't as tall.  I'm pretty psyched...I got a fat deal on the plating & really want to put these on.  I'm just not sure if they're going to look right with the stock flares & the diamond plating going half way up the doors.  Whatcha think?

Below are some pictures of the plating & a picture of Mad Dog's sick rig.

I'm just curious....is this because of rust? on your FJ?
Rust? What rust? Are callin' my ride rusty? Nah, I have always been a fan of diamond plating...not the "chromey" kind but I do like the look of these. I do like that they are unique and that not many FJ's have them. But they are tall, taking up 1/3 of the door...not sure about that look.
Got it. I guess I just always link diamond plating with rust repair.
More for protection and looks then rust.. Looks sick on the camo though..
Oooh, protection in bed. muhahaha
Do you actually drill and screw these to your sheet metal?
Hey what up PBnFJ,

It's pretty cold that we bumped into each other the other day. Is that a 6" lift? What kind?

Well, they suggest applying the self-tapping screws to the pre-drilled holes on the plating. But the plating has 3M tape on the back. Not sure if I really want to commit put holes in my doors.
Wow, nice lookin' rig!
John,

You should go for it. I think it would make the rig stand out and would definitely look sick! Bushwhackers too!
They look good dude, I'll help ya install 'em
Right on BZ, you are my go to guy! I have a few projects...the Spods ( front bumper lights), the mad dog plating, the dual battery kit and now a new Kenwood head unit...

Thanks
Crap, my bushwackers just arrived and they do not fit the rear fenders because of the Fab Fours rear bumper. I called Bushwackers, I remembered seeing a FJ at the SEMA show that had a FabFour rear and bushwackers,,,but they said it didn't look right and that it just doesn't fit and looks like $h!T.

I was really looking to do both the diamond plating and the flares, What about Bushwackers on the front nothing in the back?

Hmmm, Any suggestions?
