Sat 8/14/10 - Long Canyon Trail Run

We are planing a run to Long Canyon.

We will follow the schedule of the previous run organized by DWH. All info can be found here:

Trail Meeting Point and Directions:

Saturday 8/14/10
Time: 9:00, leave at 9:15.

A good meeting point is the Safeway parking lot in Cameron Park. The address is actually Shingle Springs on most map software.

3380 Coach Ln, Shingle Springs, CA 95682

This should give us plenty of space and a place to pick up any last minute items.

The cheapest gas is at the ARCO-AM/PM off of the Cambridge exit in Cameron Park, or Costco in Folsom.

Communication:
CB - Ch 31
FRS - 7/31
Mobile phones do not work well in the trail area.

Be prepared for changeable weather.

Take extra food&water supplies in case we get lost.

i would suggest Cow Mountain, but i think one of the main access roads into the park is closed. perhaps someone can confirm. otherwise, you're looking at a pretty long day trip to Eagle Lakes, Long Canyon or thereabouts.

Cow Mountain is about 2 hours north of SF.

Both Long Canyon and Grass Valley are the ones I wanted to do earlier but I missed.
I think we can narrow the options to these two.

I have been there twice,first time scouting ahead with DWH and the second was the event on the 6/26, a third time would be fun. Im always looking for a reason to wheel.

sorry I am going to miss this run. I am breaking my pattern. I have been wheeling every weekend for the last 2 months. Work, what a pain to get in the way. Have a great time and send pics.

I will be happy to go and I can coordinate posting later today - but I will not be able to prepare to lead this trail. I PM Ghost if he can lead.

Check posting for the trip on 6/26 - I propose to follow the same schedule - meet up in Cameron Part around 9:15am. I will try to update the thread later tonight.
