FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hey Guys n Gals,

Gosh it took me long enough to get to this forum right! Well Annie has been kind enough to put it in my head that we need to move to Cali.... Nor Cal of course! So I know this is an FJ Forum.... but this is the best place I know to go and ask friends and hopefully new friends to be about Nor Cal... what you guys love/hate about it and why we should move there....

I have been researching... but honestly until I can come for a trip, Hopefully in Sept, we cant find out for real if were going to like it or not! I'm a native to arizona, The brown state, so a big move is big for me but I'm ready for it, tired of this heat where 6 months out of the year we hibernate, we dont even go wheeling during the summer here because its miserable. Were tired of it.... so I need your help....

Were not city folk.... We need a smaller town close enough to a larger town so my popcorn factory can open a second shop. Other than that were open... as long as the weather isnt hotter than 90.... ok really dont want it hotter than 80.... but sorta willing to see whats out there! LOL

Sorry not a typical first post... but I know so many of you guys.... looking forward to getting to know more of you!! :^) Big hugs guys.... wish we could have made all the trips this month...

I think Arizona can be $$$ as well, it just depends where you shop and where you live so I understand that it will be most costly, because I'm living in one of the cheapest towns in the east valley of Az so I can be close to the shop....

I'm happy to hear that a transplant can actually say that you LOVE it there.... that is one of my biggest worry is that it sounds awesome, but once I get there will I love it still? Thank you so much for you .02.... Thats what I'm looking for!!!!! :^)
The Santa Cruz mountains are close to the coast, but cheaper. You said a small city near a big city, there's plenty of places with 15-20 mins of Santa Cruz to live, and have your shop in touristville. That and I love it out here, much nicer weather than most of the Bay Area and 20 mins from the beach!
Ohhh man this is music to my ears!!! :^)
Howdy Ranger!

Temps are VERY IMPORTANT in this research right now, so I'll have to research more about the temps.
My only worry about the Marin area's is that I have a feeling most people driving the 1 will stop the scenic coastal drive at San Fran and go else where, so thats one of the reasons I have started thinking south of San Fran....
Arizona is a dry heat, just like the OVEN and thats the best saying Ive ever heard!! LOL Thanks for your .02 !!
Thank you for your help, Ill be looking in to those city's as well! The hubby and I have always wanted acreage but honestly we down sized recently to 800 sqft and were loving it... As long as I have a yard for your 2 rescued pitty's we will be happy house wise!! :^)
Sacto is to HOT! All of that central valley area is HOT.

If you are used to 800 sq feet, move to the East Bay (Oakland/Berkeley) with your pups, sell popcorn in San Francisco (the single biggest tourist area till you get to LA). You'll only be 30 minutes from Mt Tam (hiking/biking mecca), 20 minutes from the ocean, 3 hours from Rubicon/Yosemite, and right next to ME! :)

And the weather is LOVELY!

Leonie lives in Oakland... I'm right by Berkeley, next to Wildcat Canyon Park (look it up). We have deer, skunks, possums, turkeys walking down our street every day, and I'm still only 15 miles from San Francisco!
Ok those are being added to my list!!! Thank you Annie!! We may be different but we have the same living ideas!! :^) LOL
I love living in the Bay Area. A nice mix of Big City whenever you want it, combined with fantastic scenery and wildlife. Kayaking is also big here, you'd love that. The sea otters and sea lions swimming right up to you.

And the BEER... omg...
Love to hear about all the wildlife, and still close to a big city (For business use only!)
Beer... well thats Dan... Me... Just never got used to the stuff... would like to finally be
able to understand wine, and start drinking something other than Sangria! LMAO Ohhh Sea
Life how I love Sea Life!!! Your making me want to come down this weeked!!
I can find a beer that you'll like.
And after a few years you'll speak fluent 'Wine'. :)
Bet I've been to every wine tasting in Napa and Sonoma twice!
SWEEEEEEEET! LOL Gosh.... right now Cali is all I'm thinking about...
Everything to do... Tons of friends.... Perfect Weather...
it's a great place! just watch out for Super Slick Rock Squirrel!
