2010 Memorial Day Weekend (may 28-31st) - COYOTE FLAT (near bishop)

Date: May 28-31 (Friday night and Monday optional)

Meeting Place: Lone Pine, Alabama Hills
Time: 9:30 Saturday Morning. Early arrivals may meet early, we will be camping at Alabam Hills

Direction to Meeting location: From Lone Pipe, head west on Whitney Portal rd, until you see the Alabama Hills sign, turn right onto dirt rd, and drive 1 mile

Trails: We will be doing many trails, none too hard, but all very scenic. There will be a signup soon. These are some of the trails on our agenda.

I was checking Google maps last night to determine timing for you guys since Tioga Pass will likely be closed. You could take a further northern route and pass through Sac, but that would put you guys at around 9-1/2 hours for the one-way trip.

It would save you 2 hours (I was using Oakland as a starting point) to head south on 5, then go east at Bakersfield, then hit 395 North. ; )

88 past Kirkwood, down into Minden then south on 395. That's the way we go Ice climbing in Lee Vining, only a couple hours more than Tioga and more scenic than 5. Maybe 89 will be open so that cuts off the Minden slog too, we'll see.

Last weekend on the CA side it said 89 Monitor pass is "CLOSED" but when we got to the other side (took 88 instead) the sign on 395 said Monitor pass is "OPEN"..

just checked caltrans, it is open as of now. We are getting a storm monday, hope it stays open!
