FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Damn, I blew out my Rear passenger shock Saturday

Hey Guys,

Damn , after cleaning all the mud out from under my FJ I noticed a black fluid leaking from my rear RC shock.  Looks like the rear shock has a leak.  I am in the mist of contacting 4X4groupbuy (where I purchased the lift)  to see if Rough Country will replace the shock for free.  The lift is only 4 months old, hope to have it up and running by Memorial day!!!

I may need help re-installing the new shocks (if they replace them).

I wonder how that coulda happened? .......I wonder........ =)
Well, as I told the dealership... " my truck has NEVER been off road, I baby it".. So I have no idea how this could have happened. No it's cool, RC said that they are sending me a new shock today.

The other issue I am facing is that my AC is not working and my FJ almost overheated twice on the way home from Sac. Hmmm, I wonder what could be clogging the intakes? I just need to park over a good sprinkler system for an hour, that should do the trick.
Yo man, you hit it right on the head...there was mud packed in between the two radiators. Cleaned it out with a hose.
Is that an ARB front bumper I see? Check to see if your bumper cut the AC line...that happened after a trip through El Dorado. When installing instrux say to make sure the AC line is clear..which it was, but about an inch. Apparently, that was not enough...with all the bumps and bruises, sure enough, no AC.

Just a thought.
DivnGirl, You too were correct, the winch rubbed the AC line causing the line to snap. The stealership wanted $400+ for a new line and to fill the freon. I told them to pound sand and that I would fix it myself.

The dealership also identified the "oily substance" on both axles as axle grease caused by bad axle seals. Luckily the seals are covered under the warranty...should get the FJ back tomorrow, now I just need to TIG welded or replace the AC line and fill it with freon.

All in all, I am happy to hear that the Fj is in relatively good shape. Guess the RC rear shock wasn't blown out after all. I guess I'll send RC their replacement back since they were cool enough to send one out without any questions.

THANKS YOU ALL
for all your advise,
John
you need to pressure wash the mud out from the top down
take it back isn't there a warranty on it...or just tell them what happen. Im pretty sure they will repair or replace it.
Im wondering if it might be the unicorn.. just playing... it was nice to meet you...hope it all gets resolved
It was the mud's fault
What mud? I took the Fj into the dealership clean and as i said before the Fj has never been offroad and I baby it :>)
