I am having problems with speaker sizes. What are the actual sizes for all 6 speakers? And if any one has done this before, would it be possible to add another two speakers to the rear pannel? I have noticed that there are slot for this but i do not have the stock grills for the rear pannel and would looove to be able to make everything look as clean as possible. Also, any possible way to throw larger speakers in the roof pannel? The stock speakers are terrible in the roof. Im planning on installing a 7" touch screen DVD headunit and was just wondering about the dementions of all the speakers. Will take any info on anything about the system!!! Thanks!!!!

I am old school and I would actually remove any rear speaker and - most importantly - roof speakers (they totally ruin the front stage that is already pretty low on the FJ), but maybe with a true car "theater" setup it actually makes sense... what will you use as amplifier?

I ordered some components from Sweden to build a class-D amplifier but they shipped the package to the wrong address and I'm two months late in the project already :(

PS if you need a "cable adapter" to connect a standard device to the OEM wires, I got one from Ebay, 3 bucks, it's complete and good in quality. In case you need it, I can tell you the seller (out of state of course, to avoid tax)
This is by the way a good thread on the blue forum:

i think the back is 3.5" look at crutchfield they have a sample for the FJ
yes check out wicked c.a.s. on the Blew room or contact me I'll help ya out, I have done high end sound systems on the cheap and can help ya out.
I installed 2-way 4" in rear pillars (mine did not have any back there stock) mounted on the stock panels, looks good, and 3" in the dash, and 6x9" 3 ways in the doors, all powered by a Kenwood DNX 5100 series headunit with Nav.
You can also get the replacement stock speaker covers for the rear from here:

They're about $25 a piece
Hey DaveF2, I tried to check out that link you posted and it wouldnt work. i can do some searching for the part. theres lots on the internet to look through though. and also, you got the 6x9s to fit in the door pannels? an adapter is needed right?? and after installing the rear pannel speakers, do you still have the roof speakers active? i checked out crutchfield but they were telling me basically what i could fit, not what i can upgrade to. thanks again everyone for the info!

I have two set of 6x9 speaker adapters. I gutted some 6x9 Toyota Solara speakers, ans made them ready to accommodate aftermarket 6 x9 speakers.

One set is already fitted with Kenwood 6x9 speakers;
Model KFC-6990ie
4ohm
Peak Max Power 350W
Rated Power 55W

If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll bring them to the SAC meet.
