FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi All - Bought my 07' FJ two weeks ago. So damn excited still I spend most waking moments outside of work reading NorCal FJ discussions and watching videos. My girlfriend is scared I'm gonna start sleeping in it. Hahah. I took her on her maiden voyage today at Strawberry Pass. Well kinda. My dumb ass took wrong road. Had a blast anyway and found some fun but simple obstacles to play on. First thing needed....new tires. Any suggestions. Want an all terrain. Had BFG's on my last Tacoma.

Anyway I work in the hospitality industry and manage a lounge and nightclub in Sacramento. I have a wonderful girlfriend whom I will soon marry. We met in Hawaii where we both lived and worked for a few years. Taking her for introductory drive to off roading at Coral Hollow next Sunday. Not that I'm an expert. I've run a few trails in my old Tacoma. I'm REALLY looking forward to going on some runs with everyone on here. BTW - If anyone wants to run that area in the "Grass Valley" video please let me know. Looks fun. Hope to chat w/ and meet many of you soon. - Rob (and Chrissy))

Welcome to the site Rob! Nice choice of color. :oP

BFG's all terrain is a great choice. There's a member on here who has driven 30,000 + miles on it and it's still in superb condition!
welcome
Thanks for the welcome.
Welcome Rob! Look forward to meeting up with you and running some trails. There was some talk this weekend about doing one more trail run before the snow starts to fall, so keep your eyes on the forum.
Thanks for the welcome. Bz said he wants to hit Grass Valley. Maybe we can get a group. You up for it Sunday?
I'm going up to Auburn this coming weekend, if you wanna hit Grass Valley I'm down, lets go!
Lets go! I can go on Sunday. That work? Do you know how to get to the Grass Valley area shown in the video on here? Looks like a river bottom with fun hills and water to play in.
There is a forum entry with the gpx file to get to the area. I think it was the snow run last year. I missed the trip last year, so I will try to make it this weekend.

BTW my BFGs have 27,000+ miles and are still in good shape.
welcome, the FJ is a wonderful vehicle, but be careful it can become an obsession.

You can't go wrong with the BFG ATs, great all around tire. What tires do you have now? My FJ originally came with Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires. They worked great in most conditions, they just don't have the bite to get you up and over some slick rocks.

BTW, I know of a great deal on an Old Man Emu lift kit if you want to go up.
Thanks for the welcome. Ya mine came with Bridgestone Duelers too and......not enough bite. Hit a good hill yesterday got all the way up but couldn't get over the top. Super loose dirt and no bite. Couldn't really charge it either cause had to go immediate left or right at top. BFG's here I come.
Check out the Pro Comp A/Ts nice tries
