NOTE: the dates have changed.
just posting up a placeholder for the Slickrock run. this year, we will add Deer Valley. we will schedule separate group runs in the area and will include easy and moderate trails depending on the response. as usual, you are not required to be present from the first day. you can arrive and depart as you please. more details, including the trail schedule, to follow in the coming weeks.

Did this last year, what a blast. Will try to make it again this year.
I've done Deer Valley, fun trail, on the hard side. Here's a GPL file, I went from Hwy 88 at Red Lake all the way down to Hwy 4. - Attachments:

i'd love to gather up a few of us so cal folks and come up there and do this with you all. i'll watch the thread and this is a big maybe for me.

i know this is just in the discussion phase right now....but having never been there can anyone give me any ideas as to camping, cost, location or possible campgrounds, are dates still being decided upon(?), itinerary or locations visited, etc
i'd like to do some internet research and put some vacation days on the calender at work.......plus start rounding up some so cal peeps to make the trek with me.

the dates will be the following weekend than what is currently advertised. just need to do the final check so i won't have to change it again. it usually is at the end of August anyway...we've done it the past two years. here is the trail report from last year: Norcal FJs - Slickrock 8/23/08
there will be two set trails on this run with additional trails added for a night run or for those who would prefer a moderate or easy run.
we usually stay at Sand Flat 4x4 campgrounds. if you Google it, be sure to choose the right one...i think there are two with the same name. the campground is free of charge, sits next to a river that you can sit in, has a small granite dome to climb atop to see the stars at night and has pit toilets. there is a developed campground just down the road called Wa Ka Luu Hep Yoo. there are other developed sites in the vicinity as well as dispersed camping along Corral Hollow trail, which is up the road. Bear Valley Ski Resort has lodges as well and that is a few miles up the road.
