not sure. last time we went, we drove all the way in. we did notice some trailers that seemed to belong to some "long-term" residents, but nothing out of the ordinary. you could always park at a nearby campground or town and drive in together if you are uncomfortable.
I'd be concerned. In both the Blue Room and FJCentral people have had their rigs stripped from the outside or even broken into at OHV parks/trails. I'm trying to be more careful about where we leave the rig, and what we leave in it. Better safe...

And deeper into the woods at Eagle Lakes I definitely felt better with a sidearm. Got a 'Deliverance' kinda feeling, would have been pretty creepy alone. Better with a crowd.

Good luck and have fun!
Yeah that is what I have been hearing as well. I may just cancel my adventure up there and go poke around some other places. I plan on going armed, but I would just rather not be in that situation! Anyways thanks for the heads up.
It's always better to travel with at least one other rig, safety in numbers.

I have done Eagle Lakes solo, just needed to get away for a nite, I had no problems, camped right by the lake and basically had it to myself, but thinkin back it would've been better to have had someone along.

I wouldn't leave my rig at the staging area there, especially over nite, lots of quads/motorcycles going in and out. The Indian Springs campground just down the road has a fee for overnight/camping, but would be a safer place as they have a Host that stays there and kindof keeps an eye on things.
