FJ Cruisers of Northern California

I am starting to put together a group to do this trail on the second weekend of Sept. I found a good link that shows you the trail. It is a little early but it gets the seed planted and allows you to make arrangements with your work..... Ray

where is that?
Dusy's a doozy...that's fer sure! i know GRM is interested, but not sure he's free that weekend.
make sure you do some research about the trail. I know of a few people that have tried it in modified rigs and could only get so far in before breaking.
I rate trails on a 1-10 scale. With 1 being a very smooth dirt road, and a 10 being Backdoor trail at the hammers.

Dusy is a good continuous 3-5 with an occasional 6-7 for 30 miles.

In comparison, I rate the rubicon a continuous 5-6 with an occasional 7-8 for 15 miles

The big difference is that Dusy is Narrower than Rubicon, vs rubicon has a need for more ground clearance.
Check out the above links and see what they say. If we alllow plenty of time and take it easy we should do fine. I am doing the Rubicon for the third year in June and they say it is as tough or tougher... Some of the rigs don't look that beefed up. Also on youtube they have a video of a FJ with a trailer doing the trail.... Hey I didn't say it was going to be easy but we will have a good time - I hope (ha ha)
Don't kid yourself. That FJ belongs to Frank Johnson of Johnson Motorsports, the Professional Rockcrawling team (see: http://www.johnson4x4.com)
I know an FJ that made it through with only a lift and sliders. It's supposed to be a difficult trail, but not impossible if you allow enough time and come prepared. Also breaking into smaller groups helps as well.

I'm way interested in going. I live just a little outside Fresno, so this right in my backyard.
Alright lets start with the list of who is going.. All aboard the night train......
Count me in, this will be awesome.
We need to keep it small, or have groups spread out.

"Callin' all aboard this train ride
Talkin' 'bout raw hardcore
Leavin' frauds on the outside"
Alright I will put you down..... I don't think we need to worry about group size at this point....
I'm noting this event on my calendar. I don't know if i can do 4 days, but I can do that trail in 2 days with a well built rig, vs. 4 in an FJ on 33's or in a group of 5 or more.

If I have time, I'll make the drive out and meet up with everyone.
Hey I just made it that long because PotatoMutato said you were only available during the week. Hope you can make it.
