FJ Cruisers of Northern California
The first sign of trouble was a clicking sound coming from my left rear tire. I got out an saw something shinny in the tread. Oh Crap! Changed the tire and took in to Big O. They say the bolt went in sideways and can't plug the hole. My poor Nitto Trail Grappler :-( It served me well. Never leaked even with a 6 inch bolt thru the middle of the tread.

Its amazing the kind of crap found on the freeways/streets. Also interesting how your front tire probably drove over it and shot it up at your rear tire. Thats how I got a large sheet metal screw in the tread of a rear tire a few years ago, Les Schwab mechanic told me thats what they see often. Thats a lot of bad luck to have a bolt that big penetrate your tire.
Steve.
Sucks man!!
Thank Steve. I took it to several shops...Les Schwab, Big O and Firestone they all said because of insurance liability they couldn't plug the hole. Too much damage to the wires inside the tire. I'm just glad it wasn't a new tire. I just couldn't believe a bolt that big didn't blow out the tire! It didn't even leak any air. Nitto builds an amazing tire!
