hey, NorCal!

DWH and i are pleased to announce that NorCal FJs has plans to adopt its first trail in Long Canyon. Long Canyon is located in the Eldorado National Forest.

by adopting the trail, we will be scheduling trail cleanups and maintenance runs approximately 3-4 times throughout the season. cleanups include trail clearing (e.g. downed trees, overgrown brush, rocks, etc.), signage repair, and water flow maintenance. paperwork is being finalized at the moment and if all works out, we will be paying our first visit to the trail in the late May/early June timeframe.

in the coming weeks, we'll begin discussions regarding our stock of equipment (e.g. chainsaws, shovels, winches, etc.) and recommended items (e.g. gloves, protective eyewear, hard hats, etc.), so please keep an eye out for the discussions.

depending on the total number of volunteers planning to assist, we are asking all volunteers to plan for a minimum of two visits to the trail throughout the season. we will limit the number of trucks on these volunteer runs to 8-10.

if you are interested in volunteering, please post up here and we'll keep the roster updated. thanks!

The form is acceptable as is. We can use it until they give us a new one. I will ask our FS contact as well.

I will be putting together a clean up run in the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the events section.

If anyone is interested in going on a scouting run this Sunday (7/6/14) let me know. We need to figure out what to do on our cleanup run.

I am very interested in scouting this Sunday as I need to get out in the woods (seem to be in the desert all the time).

I'm tentatively interested...except my form won't have been received by then - not sure if that matters??

I will leave it up to you guys who goes. We can only have 2 vehicles on the trail for a patrol. If someone wants to ride with me, that would work as well. We can meet at the In-n-Out in Placerville at 9:30 AM.
Are either of you able to go?

Yes, I am able to go and have room for a passenger if anyone else would like a ride.

Let me know when and where (at the In/Out, or trail head are both fine with me). I will be on NorCal FJ 2m primary freq of 146.460 and scanning many of the area repeaters as well. Call is KD6BMU.

I'll pass this time then - need to rattle-can my newly-acquired used sliders.....

Next time.
Ok, I will see you at In-n-Out at 9:30. I will monitor 146.460 and AG6AU.
