FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hello All,

I've seen this thread on other forums, looks like fun...I'll get it started.

I drove my rig to work (first time I've had it out in a few weeks).  Took it in for a wash..

No way!! Pics???

Sorry to see you sold the FJC but hope you find a clean FJ40. Trisha picked up a 40 last summer so the garage is stuffed now.

Also i found a very clean fj40 in chico over the summer. next time I'm up there ill check it out for you. I was tempted to buy it but didn't have the funds, The seller was a big FJ fan and wanted it to go to a good home.

Did a little paint mod on the FJ today

Looks good!

Thanks!

looks good! plastidip?

Thanks! It's the same combo I used on my bumpers, door handles, grills, mirrors, etc.

Start with a light 220 sanding

Put on a couple nice coats of Rustoleum Bedliner Spray

Let dry just a few minutes

Add a few more coats of Duracolor Bumper Spray.

Bam.

Stuff is bulletproof. Drove to NC and Back twice with the bumpers/grill/etc. and a total of about 50k miles since spraying. Little to no chipping. Major offroading, tree branches, etc. Still almost none.

You mean Duplicolor (Bed Armor), I guess? I used that on my rear bumper. What's the benefit of undercoating it with the Rustoleum stuff? Less texture??

Actually, it's the bumper spray. It has a smoother texture and fills in some of the gaps between pebbles, smoothing out the texture. Also, it's just a tad glossier and makes everything match the plastic that's already black.

Yeah, the Bed Armor has a bit more texture than I'd like, but when it's dirty it doesn't matter ;)

Nice! gonna have to shoot my whole FJ with that mixture, looks good
