FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Looking at the 2014 calendar I would suggest we look at any of the days around Valentines day to Presidents Day (Feb 14 thru 17) for a trip to MET for a snow day, weather permitting.

We should have some of the white stuff by then and can add as an Event day closer to the time.

Hopefully this will give our Bay Area based FJ friends good advance notice and we can all review weather forecasts ahead of time and have a great group outing.

I have never been disappointed on MET by Presidents Day in the past, I expect we will have plenty of snow by then.

I'm down.

Is this still happening? Where is the meet point and time?

that looks awsome and like so much fun.

Can't do it this weekend... would love to, especially with all this new snow. But I have plans with the lady.

I didnt see this in the event page just now saw it. Whats the Details. Ill go with the fam saturday after valentines day. BTW what is MET?

I didn't re-post this because the "new snow" is actually at 6500 feet and above. I think no new snow fell at MET or not much. mostly rain.

"BTW what is MET?"

Mormon Emmigrant Trail runs from Jenkinson Lake/ Sly Park Road about +/- 30 miles to Hwy 88.

Elevation changes from about 3500 feet at the Lake to about 6500 feet at the junction with Hwy88.

I am going to drive up there tomorrow or Thursday to scope it out, but most of this new snow was over 6500 feet.

I will post up more info later. Want to make sure its worth the drive.

Steve.

As you can see, not a lot of snow up there today. I drove over 20 miles on MET before I got to any snow, this is the view at around 6500 feet. Large ruts from tires and  some deep snow but you cannot go off onto other trails until March 31st so not a lot to play on. I am not going back up there until we get some low snow, might happen Sunday, but as you can see, its not worth an "event".
