What to carry in your FJ 'just in case'

Hey guys,

A couple of my FJ buddies have asked me this. Mostly in regards to belts, bushing, special tools, etc.

I would love some great input of what you carry for day to day, vs. trail gear.

That does apply to registered AR's. AR's with a bullet button fall into the same category as all other rifles for transport.

Ohhh. Really? So that only applies to 'grandfathered' ones, or LE registered. (that's the only way I know of you can get one).

You can get AR's and other assault rifles just slightly neuterd (not permanent and reversable) but that will change with new lagislation.

Currently available bullet button off list AR's fall under this

SHOTGUNS AND RIFLES

Nonconcealable firearms (rifles and shotguns) are not generally covered within the provisions of California Penal Code section 25400 and therefore are not required to be transported in a locked container. However, as with any firearm, nonconcealable firearms must be unloaded while they are being transported. A rifle or shotgun that is defined as an assault weapon pursuant to Penal Code sections 30510, 30515, or 30520 must be transported in accordance with Penal Code sections 16850, 25610, and 30945, subdivision (g).

REGISTERED ASSAULT WEAPONS

California Penal Code section 30945 provides that registered assault weapons may be transported only between specified locations and must be unloaded and stored in a locked container when transported.

The term "locked container" means a secure container which is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment. For more information, refer to California Penal Code section 16850, 25610, and 30945, subdivision (g).

Try applying for a CCW permit. I applied and got mine 2 years ago. No ability to carry an AR or any other long gun (Except to go to a range) but that way you can legally carry a handgun on your person. Depending on where you live of course. I'm in Modesto. No problemo here. In the mountain areas or northern areas its mui easier than southern Cal. Or S.F. It was amazingly easy, contrary to the stories I used to hear.

Well I carry mine all the time! But again I live in the good ol state of Oregon! I don't go around flashing it but its there and haven't gotten in trouble!!
