FJ Cruisers of Northern California

The past couple days i have been hearing a whine coming from the engine bay that changes pitch with the change in rpm's. anyone have any idea what it may be? i think it is the belt, i just hit 70k and dont think ive ever changed it out. anyone know if it is the belt or could be anything else? any and all help will be appreciated. my engine bay is quite filthy as many can attest to so im going to clean it up tomorrow and see if that helps at all.

Thanks,

Max

just bumping this thread as i suppose no one has changed out their pulleys yet so anyone have a place where we could set up an install day?

I know this is kinda late but.....    I had the same problem on my way back from utah. It was the alternator bearing. Other than one stuborn bolt and serpentine belt it didnt take to long to fix. 211.00 for the alternator and new belt. If you have any questions with this let me know.

unfortunately i got it fixed already. My belt had snapped on the bay bridge and i barely made it off and then got it to a dealership and they had to replace the water pump and thankfully i already had the parts (belt, pulleys, ect) so they just used those and now she purrs even better than the day i got her.

Thanks for the help though!

Wow I hate the feeling of nearly getting stranded. Glad you got it fixed. Mine started acting up in the middle of the Nevada desert 100 miles from Reno. But made it home. My nerves were shot.
