Hi guys, question here on video editing software/programs. Brief history, I had an ArcSoft ShowBiz program embedded in an old HP tower computer years ago that worked flawlessly. Easy to edit, add text, add music, add effects and wrap-up to dvd. That computer died long ago. Next program I bought was a Corel Ulead moviefactory 6, worked great for years with my old vid camera.
FF to last Xmas, opened a Sony Handyman HD vid and assumed, " wow, here is the 21st century!! All ok until I tried to load the cameras ".mts" files into Corel. These files would have to be converted first for Corel to even see it! Time for a change of vid editing software
. Came across ArcSoft ShowBiz5 and remembering my past figured, "yippee, what could go wrong?" Well after 6 months of frustration with this software I am about to un-instal it and suck up the $65 loss. What a piece of phoney-baloney. Horrible software. Difficult to navigate, edit, title, yada-yada. The help is not helpful. Waste of money and time.
Back to my question. Can anyone here reco a good easily navigable vid processing software that is under a C-note? And are there any that allow previews so I dont waste coin again?
Thanks a bunch,
Steve Hope.

Adobe Premier is super capable software but not very user friendly.
I actually really like imovie, comes free on mac's so I guess it wont really help you but for basic editing, its more than enough.
Found this reddit link from 2 months back that outlines some good suggestions. I did not create this list, just found it while browsing around a while back, hope it helps!

Oh no, they're onto me! haha, nice to meet fellow redditors outside of reddit!
Feel free to add me as a friend! Same name there as here.
Thanks guys, I knew I could count on some good guidance here. I will take some time to review all options, but as you have said, I dont need a movie studio suite, I only require a way to edit vid, maybe add titles, add tunes, and burn to dvd for a grandparent disc to see grandson. Basic really, so I thank you for the info.
