FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Early May I plan on doing a camping/backpacking trip. I am looking for recommendations. It will be a 5 day trip so its ok if its sorta far away. I am looking for a place thats going to be warm that time of year and hopefully I can float around in a lake or enjoy some hot springs. Hiking trails would be nice, as with 5 days I am sure I will want to explore a bunch of areas.

I was thinking first 2 days car camp so I can have some cold ones and some steaks, then the last 2-3 backpacking. Any suggestions?

You could go hike desolation wilderness for a couple days(it's beautiful, up by Tahoe) then hit eagle lakes trail on the way home or visa versa. There's lots of lakes by desolation! There's a lot of great trails up in desolation for simple couple hour hikes or long ones for couple day trips. Done anything cool to the fj yet?

Not yet =(. I am looking at putting a 3inch lift on it though and doing suspension but that will not be for a while. It looks like we are gonna go down south and do a southern CA or Mexico hot springs trip

May is a tough month to BP in Sierras. You might try Lassen. There are many Lakes up there. You could try Skyline to Sea up in your area. About a 30 mile three night trip. Start up at Skyline and hike down to Waddell beach.

You could do the Ohlone Trail from Del Valle To Sunol. Again approx 30 miles three days. Both have camping options.

Desolation is always good even for winter BP due to all weather road. I chime in only because I do many and varied BP trips year round. Another easier leisurely option is Point Reyes
Oregon the gorge tones of hiking!!!
