A technical question for our technically minded group. My new video camera (xmas gift) is a Sony Handycam HD that records in this format: AVCHD (.MTS) .

I have tried two times to upload its video onto my page here and it has failled two times to convert to the file type this site uses, which is either .MOV, .mplt, .mpg, .avi, .wmv, .3gp, .3g2, etc.

Does anyone know of a way to convert .MTS so I can upload to my page here? I would appreciate any help on this because this page does try to do a convert but always fails.

Thank you ,

Steve Hope.

Steve,  with all of my videos I use an upgraded version of "Video Pad-Video Editor" and the file converts to a .wmv format when you save the movie.

Another option is to load your videos to YouTube .and then link it back here.

There is a "1-year free" version of "Video Pad" that I made some mind blowing edits on.

Hey Steve,

I work in the world of video on the internet. It sounds like you just need to transcode your .mts to a more suitable format for uploading. I'd suggest using handbrake which is free to use and should be able to transcode to a variety of formats. Also found a youtube video of it being used on a mac here

Thanks, im going to try that soon.

Not a problem, let me know if I can help further.

Steve, right now for my videos. i have 2 go pros (a hero 2 and hero 3 black) and i use adobe premiere. but that program is quite expensive. but I've had a great success with it. also just do a good search for the conversion, maybe sony has a free program that you can download. i know go pro does. I also found this program as well (http://www.wondershare.net) right now if you get it before the 8th of march is only $49.99 i installed the trial version and it seems easy to use. Try that also i think microsoft my have one as well. ill ask my cousin if they do he used to work for them.
