FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hey guys,

Was wondering about the ProComp 3" lift that is out there. Read some reviews and comments and noticed that there was about a 50/50 review on it. Was wondering if anybody is running them here, if there are any complications with the lift (need aftermarket UCAs, extended lines for 4 WD retention) things like that, or if this is a solid entry lift kit. Thanks guys!

Here is the link for the lift:

are you on a budget?

I run the procomp lift and I don't recommend it. if you are on a budget browse the forums (here, blue room etc) and see if anyone is selling a lift kit. other wise on a budget go with emu not on a budget browse your options. fi your sorta sorta budget I recommend radflo coilovers I hear they are decent. if you still do go with the procomp know that the ride is not that great they isn't much to them. install is easy you will need a spring compressor you can rent that from a auto store but I recommend having a shop do that cuz it is a pain in the arse. if you want to not having a wobble or tire tracking upgrade the UCAs. I run light racing and love them good for the price too.

I run the Icon's and love them.  I love the ride that they have.  Going over some railroad tracks in my wife's truck is almost unbearable unless I crawl over them.  In the FJ they are almost unnoticeable.  If I were you I would not go budget on suspension.  Save up and get something that will perform well and also last a long time.  It's better to only spend the money once and be happy.  The only thing I would do different would be a SAS, but that is a lot of money and a lot of downtime.

Another one to look at if you are on a budget is a Bilstein 5,100.  I ran that with the stock springs in the front and back with 2" spacers.  It had a great ride and was durable.  Getting something like Icon or Fox (like I have) is at a totally different level.

Looking back,  I wish I "Foxed up" sooner because of the superior ride.  If your not ready for that I will give my seal of approval for the Bilstein 5,100 set up.

Thanks a lot guy! Yea my ultimate suspension would be the camburg long travel, but don't have the $ by any means. I think I'll get the emu suspension only bc I have a budget and my aftermarket bumper and accessories are really stressing my front shocks.later on I'll get the Camburg suspension. But thanks a lot for the help guys!!!!
