Freaking things are $425 each plus pads at $150! $1,000 for a front brake job before labor!  Yikes! Admittedly I can do it for less but not by much as TRD has very low mark up event to its best dealers....

You all might consider another option other than TRD when it comes to upgrading your front brakes.

BTW: Kit is a private label by Stop Tech aka Centric but they are bound by contract not to sell the replacement rotors.... ARRRGH!

BTW anyone else get a recall notice for" TRD High Performance brake kit accessory for 2007 to 2012 FJ "

in the mail from Toyota last December?

Apparently the TRD 6 spoke wheel ( the one I have as stock, hence the recall notice) does not have enough clearance for the brake crossover tube. Failures have occured with the aftermarket TRD brake on these wheels.

The letter notes, "if you have the red caliper TRD brakes REGARDLESS OF WHEEL SIZE, contact your dealer"

Oooops.

Steve Hope

i did get that notice

now if they would just admit to the earlier 07 build date to having baaaad rear gears that would be awesome

I've yet to find a time where I felt like the stock brakes weren't up to the job.

Me 2. Except when pulling a heavy trailer, but that's what trailer brakes are for.

I picked up some drilled and slotted rotors for a couple hundo and added ceramic pads.  Holy stopping power Batman!  The rear rotors are a bitch to change but doable once you know what to do.
