The TRD skid plate, aka "bling plate" is more looks than function. If it is protection you are looking for the one that came w/ your FJ is better. The bling plate is made of thin aluminum and robs you of ground clearance. For what you will spend for the TRD you can buy a quality heavy duty skid.
im planning to go off roading. i was planning on going to hollister last saturday with my friend but it never went through and i meet up with this one guy off of craigslist that gave me some rain vents for my window and he mentioned this website. the FJ is my dads so i want to protect the car and i thought that the TRD skid plate would actually protect the bottom. but if you guys say that the one that is already on the car is aite then ill listen to you guys. ive never been off roading before with the FJ, well actually never in general, so i want to go and im thinking of maybe going with norcal FJ.
Thats a great idea to hang out with us when we go. We will spot you and all the good stuff.
For off roading Its simply is not worth the money for the stock plate. There are much better solutions out there. I woudl first start wheeling and see what the FJ is capable of. Thsi is goodfor you as well as the truck. Once you go a couple of times and see what kind of wheeling you like to do. SOme people like mud and dirt and other like to Rock crawl. Feel free to post up any questions you may have and on eof us will help you out...
that sounds good. i probally wont go rock cawling cause i dont want to mess up my dads car. ill probally do mud and dirt and minor rock cawling. but thanks for all you help. hope we stay in contact
i kno i saw that on craigslist but it aite the advice that everyone gave me is great. ill go my first time and see how the stock FJ rides. thanks for the advice dude
