FJ Cruisers of Northern California
....so, I decided to go back to my USMC roots and paint the FJ. As you will see from the pics I had a 2007 Titanium Metallic with white top and roof rack. I will now have the bottom 1/3 with a line-x type material (same stuff they use on cars at Bonneville, stronger than LInex-X and Rhino, but way lighter) and the upper 2/3rds will be flat 686a tan. Emad and his son Mike at Airport Auto Care in South San Francisco are working on the FJ as I type. If you need paint work or body work done, these are the guys to go to. I'll post progress pics and finals when they are all done. Here is the before and the sanding portion from today.

If you get it back together by this coming thursday you should try and make the Thursday get together in Petaluma at Lagunitas, would love to see it in person.
I wish I could, but I have to work Thursday night. I saw the event and wanted to go. Hopefully I'll be able to attend some events so people can see it in person. I live on the peninsula and drive all over. You'll probably see it rolling on the road sooner than later.

....from inside the paint booth, getting the black Line-X/Rhino type stuff applied (not dry all the way).

dude it looks like a boat thats freaking epic! what are you going to do if you replace bumpers? going to do the same paint to keep the scheme going?
Yup, probably shoot the bumpers to match. Thanks! Can't wait to find some steelies to make it complete (for now). If anyone wants to trade steelies for my alloy wheels or is selling steelies, let me know!
Looks great!
Done!!!! Special thanks again to Emad and his crew at Airport Auto Care in South San Francisco. They literally took what I had told them and created it on my rig! I could not be happier. Just tell them Mike with the FJ sent you and they will take care of you. Here are some pics. I'll post some from the direct sunlight and some from tonight. The paint is flat 686a Desert tan with three flat clear coats applied.
...more pics.
