The FJ Cruiser - not your first rodeo.
I noticed the other FJ forums are different. I think someone pointed out that for most buyers the FJ Cruiser was their first 4x4, and perhaps their first enthusiast vehicle. That doesn't seem to be the case here.
List your other enthusiast vehicles:
1991 Honda CRX - Yes, this counts. See Jackson Racing.
1995 Wrangler - Loved this bone stock truck, except that it would top out at 70mph with 33" tires. It was stolen and BBQed
1994 Wrangler - I-6 Hard top, lift, installed AC, Awesome 4 wheeler that I miss dearly. However my back and sweat glands do not. I still wish I had it, but not as a daily driver.
1997 Wrangler - Great ride and articulation, but soft tops suck. I never really liked this vehicle, and I liked it even less once they released the Rubicon.
2003 Grand Cherokee - Nothing but buyers remorse.
2007 FJ Cruiser - DR/Icon suspension ARB bumper, and all sorts of goodies. It's perhaps my favorite DD of all time. I'm still not used to the IFS thing for crawling, but it's been the best all around 4x4, thus far with a SURPRISING amount of aftermarket support.

I had a couple sports cars before the FJ, which was my first 4x4
1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 - Fun but very heavy and wasn't the most nimble. I was lucky enough to sell that car without blowing a transfer case considering how hard I drove it.
1994 Mazda RX7 - I miss this car. Got with 70k on the clock and bone stock. Blew the motor at 85K and rebuilt it at Rick's Rotary in Pleasanton. Spent a bit on that car but it was putting down 400 whp and was still smog legal and handled like a dream. I'd like to find another in mint condition someday.
2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX - Bought it with a works package putting down 340 whp. Incredibly fast, handled a bit better than the RX7 thanks to the AWD and it launched fast but smooth. Loved the car, but by that time I'd built up so many tickets that I just kind of phased myself out of the need to speed everywhere. That and gas was getting kinda expensive and couldn't justify watching the needle drop as fast as it did.
2008 FJ-C - So far not much, just an Icon lift, DO sliders and some rubber. But it definitely puts a smile on my face. One of the best cars I've driven and so happy with how reliable it is. I don't see a time that I'll be selling this thing unless money becomes tight.

My dad used to own a 84 Landcruiser, so growing up I loved the landcruisers. My dad sold it to our neighbor who was doing missionary work in costa rica at the time. I have since been thru:
1992 Honda Civi Si- First car in high school. Never got around to building it. Stock. Totaled.
1996 Honda Civic EX- Lowered with Ground controls, wheels and had audio system. Got stolen and stripped.
2000 Honda Civic SI- Lowered on Tein SS coilovers, some minor engine and drivetrain mods. Totaled.
1985 Toyota Corolla GTS- Was completely stock and sold before and any mods were done.
2002 Wrx- My first built ride. Suspension work, engine work and tons of mods. Ran the 1/4 in 12.1 secs, tracked PIR, Thunderhill and Laguna Seca. Eventually as you go faster you break more stuff. Sold to cousin who is in process of rebuilding and to help in funds for buying a house.
2008 FJC TT- My get-away from society, camping, exploring and enjoying precious moments with my wife and dog in the great outdoors vehicle.

My '10 FJ TT is also my first 4x4, i've had mainly sports cars before this:
1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Turbo - My first turbo car, lowered, and mainly bolt-on upgrades. Sold.
1993 Mazda RX-7 R1 - Loved this, 1.8L engine with mainly bolt-on upgrades. Sold.
1995 Toyota Supra NA - Bone stock until I sold it. Sold.
1991 and 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo - All Greddy upgrades including additional injectors and upgraded turbo and intercooler. Sold.
1992 Lexus SC300 - Stock. Sold.
1999 Lexus GS300 - Stock. Sold.
2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser TT - I've always admired and wanted a FJ40 but not being too mechanically inclined and hands on, I didn't want a project always sitting in the garage. When the FJC first came out, I really wanted one but just couldn't pull myself into buying a brand new vehicle. Finally in 2010, I was looking for a used 08 TT but they cost as much as a new 10 TT so my wife told me to get a new one as it made sense and I should own a brand new car at least once in a lifetime so here I am. Haven't done much to it except Nestor did the projector light mod and I added LED tail lights. Want to get it lifted and a nice bumper someday.

Most of these are not very enthusiastic!
1. 1978 Datsun Pickup, bought it for $1,200, drove it for about 110,000 miles, replaced the engine, drove for another 100,000 miles, sold it for $1,200. 330,000 total miles
2. 1983 Nissan Pickup
3. 1992 Volvo 240
4. 1999 Saab 95, fun to drive, hell to own
5. 2001 Toyota Tacoma Double-Cab 4x4,
6. 2008 FJC, definitely the most fun and my first new vehicle

Sorry, the Taco is definitely enthusiastic. Especially since it's a 4x4 Tacoma. Have any of you noticed how few double cab Tacomas are 4x4 from the factory?

1970 Ford Mustang Coupe - My dad and I rebuilt (actually pretty much just my dad lol). 302, that he throttled down...
2001 Ford Escort ZX2 - Sold. Put two alternators in it within 3 years.
2002 Ford F150 4x4 - Traded for FJ. Pissed me off after loosing the fuel pump and nearly leaving me stranded.
2010 FJ 4x4 - the bank owns my soul for 6 more years. Love this truck.

You might notice that I really like 4x4 and performance/sports vehicles. I lived in AZ in high school and you only had the option of water skiing or off roading. Used to help pit crews with the Score 400 and Baja 1000. Yeah, we also like to trade for something new.Hoping I can make a commitment to the FJ! After driving a F150 in various incarnations over the years thie switch to the FJ has been a huge adjustment. Only two above are my husbands, the FX4 and the Dodge Hemi. He likes speed over utility.
