FJ Cruisers of Northern California

So after a car wash on Sunday, I noticed that it seemed to have a slight loss of punch coming from idle, and sometimes between shifts, if lower RPM's. I just got it back from Toyota today for a 35k maintenance. They didnt see anything.

Any ideas? Does anyone have any thought on fuel injector cleaner? I never really use that crap because ive heard bad things about it.

Pulleys?

Thanks all,

Ok, I'm not completly sure about this, but it seems, that if I start the car with the AC already turned on, I get a little more umph back. As opposed to turning it on after I've driven away...

Hmm.

Pulleys?

Air filter?

That was just replaced. :(

Did you clean the MAF at the same time?

Well, the dealership did the air filter, so probably not. I can take a look there tomorrow. It seems to have just kind of gone away. for now.

Mine was acting like that when my battery was nearing the end of it's life.

Wow. Thats an interesting thought. Did it have any hesitation or delay in starting? You would think it would. Just trying to match all symptoms.

Thanks Cowboy!

Do you have a Panasonic battery?  If so,  they are easy to visually check the status of the battery.  Another random thought, did they change your plugs at the 35K service?

I don't know. I will check on the battery tomorrow. 35k was just basic stuff. No plugs. It was happening before the tuneup though. Seems to have gone away at the moment. It was 100 degrees those days, so I wonder if that was factor...

I suspect the computer has adjusted the system. At least it's supposed to.

That was my thought originally. It almost seemed as if the timing or fuel/air ratios were off. I was hoping that 'somehow' during the carwash, something caused it to adjust itself 'off'. Might have been the case?
