FJ Cruisers of Northern California
Was up out fishing today and parked leaning towards the drivers side. Opening the door once I mistaken let the rear door swing open without holding onto the door. Ripped the ball out of the ball & socket joint on the "stay rod" (or "trunk strut" or hydraulic arm) at the door. The ball piece when flying as I couldn't find it.
Anyone know what part(s) I need to order to fix it?
Looks like I need at least "stay arm" assuming the bracket parts is just the brackets.
I assume this isn't something covered under warranty... though I guess I could try.
But just found the "stay rod" online for $102 + shipping. At that price I might as well just order it.

it's the rear door strut call One Toyota of Oakland parts dept 5105691111 and tell them your are a NorCal FJ member and you will get great discount
BTW, they're starting to charge for restocking returned parts. They said the FJ group was doing a lot of returning lately. Which in some cases defeats the purpose of the discount, IMHO.
I don't care as much about the discount as knowing certain parts (on hand for job integrity) can be returned if not needed.
My son broke my wife's last year and I found the best price was online, I am pretty sure I paid $140.00 for it but I found a link for one at $110.00. 6890735080 Stay Sub-Assy, Back Door Damper, LH - website: http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/p/gb/TOYOTA FJ-CRUISER/STAY-SUB-ASSY--BACK-DOOR-DAMPER--LH/4118504/6890735080.html
It doesn't look like the web link is posting here right but you can cut and paste it and it will work for you. I hope this helped
