Yosemite's Big Oak Flat Road ("Hwy 120") closed--for some time

Last night there was a major rock slide on Big Oak Flat Road.  A lot of folks inaccurately think this is Hwy 120.  If you are familiar with the area, it is the road between Crane Flat at Yosemite Valley.  It knocked out the road, the base, and ground underneath.  The major rock was "the size of a two-story house."

No estimated time to reopen.  Many of us are guessing, it will be at least weeks. 

 

Hwy 140 (Merced/Mariposa/Yosemite) is the best alternate route.

You bet.  The road still needs a lot of work, but at least it is open.
