Has anyone put the fridge slide in the back of their FJ? If so, how in the heck did you reach the nuts under the truck? I barely got the one in the middle, but the one next to the frame seems impossible.

Thanks!

Not yet but it is on my to do list. I will keep an eye on this post. Good luck.
I need to get the sliders.. so far I have just tied it down.. I wan tot get the sliders and do it right..

OK -- I'll take pictures. It just barely fits, but it does fit.

I think (in hind sight) that the two cargo hooks would work, but I didn't want to have to use the two on the drivers side to keep it still. The new lid makes it easier to get into, as it has detents allowing it to be popped off.

I think I'm going to have to drop the tailpipe to reach the passenger forward bolt.

I was thinking that it may be easier to put a platform inthe cargo area. (ie plywood and some 1x1's. Then figure out a way to mount the platform to the Truck.. I have not done more research other that think about it.  People have mounted them back there, I am just not sure how they did it.

Yes, if you pick up the stock tie down threads, that would work. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible. Trying to also figure out what I'm going to do about the cargo mat. I could trim it, but then I'm destroying a "TRD" mat. I could buy a smaller generic mat. I could also drill through it, but the rubber seems to be in the way.

It's not like I'm ever going to sell it, right ;)

I removed my tailpipe to install a high clearence one,it was difficult, not much room to turn a wench up there.good luck with that, and I'll help if you want?
I do not have a fridge yet, but has anyone tried using Riv-nuts for this installation? They can be installed from the floor side by drilling the correct size hole and installing the nut. Just wondering.

I guess it depends on how thick the material is you're trying to attach the Riv-nut to,like sheet metal.

I looked up the pull strength for the EZround style rivnut in .030 thick material. It was rated at 500 lbs.

In 1/8 thick steel it is 5000 lbs.

Guess if you had a backing plate it would be real strong.

Those numbers are per fastener. So if you had 6 fasteners in .03 thick steel, in theory it should handle 3000lbs of pull force.

I think that the riv-nuts are a good solution. We used those back int he day at Mare Island, and they are plenty strong, you just need to install them properly. The key is drilling a precise hole so that the riv nut doesn't spin. I don't think the backing plate is needed. And, if you could get a backing plate in there, you wouldn't need the riv nut, ya know?
Another thing we have done at work is to tack weld the rivnuts after installation just to make sure that they never spin.
