Suspension lift

So, i have been thinking about getting a 2.5"-3.0" lift on my rig... i have found Old Man Emu (OME), i have also found that if i was to get the OME lift kit i would get the "Heavy" 886 coil springs with heavy rear coils.... any suggestions or alternatives for OME, something i havent thought of?

ICON and KING also make great suspensions for the FJ, however they are more $$$$ than OME. Metal Tech has a great deal on ICON's right now.

thanks Robbie, i think the Icon, and King lifts are a bit too pricy... so i think i will settle with the OME... thanks again!

im getting the heavies becasue i have gotten aftermarket front and rear bumbers, which are heavier than the stock bumbers, so essentially, i want to be safe in that aspect.

What kind of bumpers ?? if they are big like the warn or the ARB the heavies might be the way to go.. If not then the meds might work out well for you..

OME is a great set up and they have been around forever.. There no adjustability, but it does not sound like that you wont or need that.

Plus they are the best way to go for the price..

OME makes a great affordable, maintenance free long lasting lift. You can also opt for the Nitro Charger Sport shock upgrade. In my opinion, If you order OME I would start with medium (with front bumper, winch and rear bumper with 33 inch spare) as the OME heavies are rather rough riding even with what you may consider allot of weight. If you order from the right company, they will often allow you to swap out spring rates for little or no charge on the springs.

I have a OME medium(885/895) lift on mines and love it. For the money, OME is great. Rides great on road and off. I installed mine just this past January and have wheeled somewhat and am happy with it. Especially with saving money on the lift, it allows other mods to be done. I will be upgrading the front eventually to a coilover (Sway-A-Away or Kings) in the future but for my needs now, it works great.

Check out Overland Warehouse. They've got a complete set Radflo 2.0 and one of the owners is local. Valved specifically for 4runners anf FJs.

I have been happy for years with my OME setup (med fronts).

When I bought my kit from Toytec, I chose their long travel rear springs with Landcruiser shocks (longer travel),

I have been pretty happy with these as well. They are a little soft unloaded and firmer when the truck is stuffed.

What kind of suspension you invest in should be directly tied to what kind of wheeling you want to do.

If you mostly wheel slowly in rocks and rough terrain, OME is as good as anything costing MUCH more.

If you like going fast, think Baja 500, sand dunes, blasting down fire roads, following Resty and BZ, you will probably not be happy with the OME. It will be too stiff, and the shocks will overheat and die on you. This is where the high end coil over suspension with reservoir shocks really come into their own.

The metal tech tube bumper is about the lightest aftermarket bumper for the FJC. I see you listed a front winch as well but would seriously consider OME mediums. Divngirl has an ARB front bumper, nearly 150 lbs, and they ride well. OPG went to heavies but he has an ARB front bumper plus winch, which is over 200 lbs.
