I've heard good things about the PN 60W. I did consider getting one for the SPOT functionality and messaging capability but could not justify replacing my Garmin.
If you already have a good GPS, I recently saw some articles on new SPOT products that connect to smart phones via bluetooth allowing messaging and emergency alerts via the SPOT transceiver.
I've got a PN-40 and love it. The small screen isn't too much of an issue for me. I have it mounted on a RAM mount on the windshield by the driver's A pillar. It boots quickly and locks in relatively quick if it has a clear view. The software is easy to use. Transferring maps and tracks is a breeze. I really like the MapLibrary subscription as well. Lots of USGS topo quads available.
My only issue is there is no Mac-native software. I run it through a Windows Virtual Machine on VMWare but the latest version, 9, will run through BootCamp.
