FJ Cruisers of Northern California
Happy summer StepCal FJers.
I'm headed to Tonopah, Nevada the second week of August to do some work for the Forest Service. But I'm leaving a couple days early so I can have fun along the way. I'll probably do some light offroading and a couple nights of car camping as part of the journey.
I live in Santa Maria, so my route would take me across Highways 166 and 58, up Highways 14 and 395, and then across Highway 6/95 into Nevada. This means I'll pass right through Red Rock Canyon and will pretty much drive the whole length of the eastern Sierras.
I'll probably leave Santa Maria on Friday, August 5th and need to be in Tonopah and ready to work by Monday morning, August 8th. I've got no firm plans for the route yet so if you're interested in joining me let me know, or if you have recommendations for stops I should make I am all ears.
I don't post on the forums much but for those whom I've met but might not recognize my username, I went on a StepCal run out in Pozo several months ago and I took the Wilderness First Aid class at Hollister which included some other StepCaler's. I've got a black FJ with a baja basket on the front, the rest has been modified since the last time I went on a StepCal run.
Adios, Nate

Nate, join the FB step cal group https://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/groups/179932012035717?ap=1, we post on there a lot. We are meeting tonight (Thursday 7/21) at the Red Zone Sports Bar in Lompoc at 5:30 or 6:00 PM for dinner and drinks. Come on down, we will be discussing the next couple of runs we have planned.
I will be getting back from a long Sierra trip when you are leaving in Aug so can't make it, but we have another run planned for later.
Talk to you later, Dave
