What up John, just go to: http://www.fjsummit.org/registration.php  and sign up your rig and choose what trail times you want.  Also if you are not gonna camp I would reserve a hotel quick.  I know a lot of them are already booked up.....

Ok, So what do I need to do to get signed up.  I know step 1 is to get the wifey to sign my permission slip.  Then what?

yeah probably a better idea, i'm gonna try hard to make it, gonna depend somewhat on gas prices. hope it's not 5+pg in Jul

Is anyone going from All Cal straight to Summit? Does anyone know if campgrounds at Summit require advanced registrations or can you just show up and grab a spot?

thanks for the info :) that makes me feel more comfortable. I looked up some of the information on the site for the summit, but I wanted to get some more input just to be sure. I'm really hoping I'll be able to go, especially after seeing some of the pics from previous summits. It just looks down right beautiful. Thanks again!

it is definitely noob friendly. that being said, many of the trails have some climbs and wind along on shelf roads, so if you are not comfortable with heights and steep dropoffs, you may want to avoid some of them. knowing how to ford water may be good to know on some trails as well. you'll be fine stock. just make sure you sign up for trails that you are comfortable with, enjoy the scenery and have a great time!

I'd really like to get in on this, it sounds like a blast! My question is...since I'm an off-road beginner (and my FJ pretty much all stock), is the summit noob friendly?

Planning on going!  Has anyone made hotel reservations yet?  Trying to decide where to stay as this will be my first trip to the Summit!
