So I finally got around to trying to install my cb this afternoon but it appears I have the wrong cable to work with the boztec mount.  I have the K4-8R18 but the firering does not look as if it will fit up inside the mount.  With that said any one have a recommendation of a cable that I can purchase that will work with the boztec mount?  I liked the K4-8R18 because it has the bare end which will make the wire run easier.

Any thoughts appreciated.

put the fire-ring above the Boz mount and there you go
ya, was thinking I might try that for now and see how it goes. Thanks BZ
i used the regular coax cable(w/big ends)and was able to snake it all the way up to the front through the jack compartment and under the driver side sill cover.check the "blue room"for lots of different ways to do it.
Do you have a link for one of those "blue room" discussions? I'm going to run my cable (with two big-ends) and was wondering how best to route it from the Boztec mount to the front.
just go to FJcruiser forum and search CB install, there are several threads,i think.
I have the ring above the mount, it sorta works. =)

My mod to the mount so I can get my fire ring coax inside :-)

Lance,

Was that a drilled hole? What size drill? Any pic of it installed?

Thanks, thanks and thanks.

Drilled hole with a bunch of dremeling after word. Not sure of the bit size but it was sort of moot with all of the dremeling. I had to really get in there and smooth out the edges and elongate the hole to be able to feed the wire through without destoying it. I went through 3 dremel bits (That stainless is tough stuff). Here is a a collage of pics, hope it helps some.

Helps a lot. I'll talk to John about maybe putting some kind of slot in the mount when I see him at Boztec.

thanks again.

one issue you might have is matching the SWR, since you are running coax through a small metal hole it will act as a RF choke and it will cause SWR matching problems.

So you recommend the K-4A vs Fire Ring?
