anyone Norcal folks got a ham?

Sonof40 - Steve I know you got the handheld

I like cooking green eggs better than figuring out how to configure a ham radio so I can communicate with the borg in deep space.

But I was thinking it would be cool to get some chat going via repeater between so&nor cal. Or at least test it out.

yeah, you've got a few up here: DWH, PBn'FJ, Boss73, opg4759 to name a few. i, too, will someday get my license.
cool, hope some will be at the allcal so I can talk with them
I haven't done much with ham as yet as you know. I think out of the 3 or 4 of us DWH (Daryl) has the best "handle" on the repeater thing. I'll ask him this week end. We seem to be using a quasi standard frequency of 148.480 simplex but not sure about repeaters.
cool Steve, I've finally got around to figuring out all the settings and config's on my radio and a few steps farther ahead than I was at lone pine. and I'm not talkin bout fishin :-)
thanks for the links, I'll read up on the sites tonight. Guess I'll have to see the farthest repeater I can hit from socal since I only have vhf/uhf capability and license. If I remember correctly, you can only hop repeaters with HF. I started looking into IRLP, but I need more research time on that.
