I was on my way to pick up my girlfriend from the Emeryville Amtrak, and on the bay bridge my serpentine belt snapped which caused my water pump to explode and cover the engine bay in coolant. i lost power steering but made it to the parking lot without overheating and had to get towed to berkeley toyota and had them replace the belt and pulleys, which i had in my house in SF just didn't replace yet (should have replaced earlier!), and the water pump and it ended up costing about $600 in total. in and out in the same day.
