We've tried the bumper out by jerking on it with the FJ40 and winching up decent inclines and it holds just fine. Material is a combination of 2x3 1/4" wall rectangle tubing for main support and 1.25" diameter 1/4" wall pipe (yes it works great).

That's pretty nice... it'd look awesome with another bar mirroring that bottom one but up top (like on mine).
