It could be something as simple as bad gears. I hope that's the case. My pinion depth is off which creates a slight whine when I let off the throttle and excessive heat. This will reduce the life of my gears unless I pull them and have them re-set ($100 for re-set and PIA to R and R).

Sorry this happened, total BS.
What is the name of this shop so no one else will go there?
IMO the either did a bad job setting the pinion depth or they sold you one thing then installed something inferior.

naw you know what it is...when he drives from a block to another, he revs that thing like a mofo. FJ Cruiser man just cruise down the streets. But sorry to see that.

didn't i tell you that you don't need to engage your rear locker for speed bumps at the mall?!
